About the Producers
Robert Greenwald, Executive Producer:
Robert Greenwald is the director/producer of "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" (2004), a documentary exposing the right-wing bias of Fox News. The film was initially distributed via internet DVD sales, but strong viewer demand led to an unusual post-DVD theatrical release in the summer of 2004. The Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF) presented "Outfoxed" with the Youth Documentary Award. The five-year old BIFF is one of the most prestigious festivals in Norway.
Greenwald is also the executive producer of a trilogy of "Un" documentaries: "Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election" (2002), directed by Richard Ray Perez and Joan Sekler; "Uncovered: The Iraq War" (2003), directed by Greeenwald; and "Unconstitutional" (2004), directed by Nonny de la Pena, about the post 9/11 erosion of American civil liberties.
In addition to his documentary work, Greenwald has produced and/or directed more than 50 television movies, miniseries and feature films, including: "The Book of Ruth" (2004), based on the best selling book by Jane Hamilton; "The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron" (2003); "Blonde," a miniseries based on Joyce Carol Oates' fictionalized biography of Marilyn Monroe; "The Burning Bed," starring Farrah Fawcett as an abused housewife; "Our Guys," based on the true story of a rape in a small town; "Shattered Spirits," starring Martin Sheen, about alcoholism; "Forgotten Prisoners," about the work of Amnesty International; and Hiroshima.
Molly O'Brien, Co-Executive Producer:
Emmy Award-winning producer/director, Molly O'Brien recently completed writing producing and directing a documentary, TERMINAL IMPACT, for the Natural Resources Defense Council. Narrated by Diane Keaton, the film celebrates the NRDC clean air victory over the city and Port of Los Angeles. Prior to that O'Brien directed 11 episodes - including the pilot - of ABC Family's SWITCHED. Her two feature documentary films, SCHOOLING JEWEL and PEPA'S FIGHT about the lives and struggles of teen girls in Tulsa, Oklahoma and East Palo Alto, California broadcast on Oxygen network. SCHOOLING JEWEL premiered at the Doubletake film festival and IDFA in Amsterdam where DA Pennebaker called it A real gem!" and US magazine raved "You can't make this stuff up!"
Previously, O'Brien produced "American High" (Emmy winner), the critically acclaimed documentary series that aired nationally on FOX and later on PBS. O'Brien was responsible for seven out of the fourteen student-stories featured in that groundbreaking series.
O'Brien's first film, "A Pig With Hair," was selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as part of their Outstanding Documentary Film Series. Featuring Wynton Marsalis and his music, A Pig With Hair went on to win numerous awards including the Silver Plaque in Chicago.
O'Brien's first dramatic film, "Some Common Things That Happen to Corpses" (1999), starring Jennifer Aspen and Ivan Basso, also won numerous film festival awards including New Orleans, St Louis, Belgium, CMJ, and Austin Film Festival (finalist), and was selected by the Montreal World Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Film Foyle, Williamsburg, Ohio, Sau Paulo Brazil, and International Shorts in New York City. O'Brien graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts/Film and Television., and is represented by Broder Kurland agency in Beverly Hills.
Richard Ray Perez, Director & Supervising Producer:
Richard Ray Pérez co-produced and co-directed the award-winning documentary "Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election," an official selection at over 50 international film festivals and winner of 9 festival awards.
Mr. Pérez co-produced and co-directed the documentary, "Crashing the Party: The Democratic National Convention" and produced and directed documentaries for the AFL-CIO, the Center for American Progress, and the Office of the Americas. Mr. Pérez worked as freelance producer for the PBS news magazine California Connected and produced video projects for the best-selling author, Arianna Huffington, the American Civil Liberties Union, Progressive Majority, The California Democratic Party and the activist organizations True Majority and Artists United. Richard Ray Pérez also photographed the highly acclaimed documentaries "Uncovered: The War in Iraq" and "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism."
Before making documentaries Mr. Pérez worked as Technical Director for the Fox Broadcasting Company and an Assignment Editor and Field Producer for KCBS-TV News in Los Angeles. Richard Ray Pérez graduated from Harvard University, cum laude, in Visual and Environmental Studies and is a native of San Fernando, California.
